After a gruelling 5 laps of the Mont-Sainte-Anne course, the men's cross country race on Saturday incredibly came down to a two man sprint.
Nothing could keep Nino Schurter and Jose Hermida Ramos apart on the final lap as the two battled the rain and the slippery conditions on the track.
In the end, Nino Schurter managed to have that little bit extra in the sprint and powered to the line in front of a visibly annoyed Jose Hermida Ramos.
Jose Hermida was magnanimous in defeat however: “It’s been a hard season and I’m happy to be able to ride in the front, I might have even won the race. But Nino almost never loses a sprint fight. I slipped a bit in the last right- hand corner before the finish straight and I didn’t have the time to make up for it."
