Red Bull athlete Mariana Pajon will have the freedom of ride around the Andes as she pleases after being given an “Honorary Citizen" award by the General Secretariat of the Andean Community (CAN) last week.

The award was in recognition of her achievements at this summer’s Olympic Games where the Colombian won the gold in the BMX Race event for women.

Mariana was in Lima to accept the honour from CAN.

“It is an honour for me that the Andean Community grants me this distinction.

“During the coming events in which I will compete, I'll be representing all of you, because you are always in my heart.

“Hopefully in the next Olympic Games in Rio I will get another medal, as this will be dedicated to the Andean Community, from whom I have received much affection.”

CAN has governmental representation from Bolivia, Peru, Colombia and Ecuador and was set up to promote social and economic integration between those four countries.

Mariana was also in Lima to take part in a Red Bull Under My Wing mentoring initiative.

She put on a coaching clinic at a local BMX track and also attended a forum to give a talk on her experiences as a professional athlete as well as taking questions from the children that were involved in the coaching clinic.
