The ever popular X Games has just got a whole lot bigger after ESPN announced that the summer version of the Games is to expand to three non-US new locations in 2013 and include a MTB freestyle competition for the first time.

Barcelona, Munich and Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil will be the new host cities for the Summer X Games for the next three years to 2015.

Former Olympic Games sites in Barcelona and Munich will be the locations for their respective X Games, while the impressive Iguaçu Falls provides the backdrop to the Foz do Iguaçu Games.

These new locations of course join the well-established Los Angeles event on the X Games calendar.

The Los Angeles Summer X Games features sports such as BMX, Skateboard, Moto X and Rally Car.

These sports will of course continue to feature in the new locations but there are new additions.

The great news is that a MTB Slopestyle event is being included at an X Games for the first time with a contest taking place in Munich.

The MTB Freeride community has long enviously glanced at the BMX contests at the X Games but now some of the sport's top names will be factoring a visit to Munich into their busy schedules next year.

Also new will be a BMX Dirt contest at Foz do Iguaçu. The new additions do however mean some BMX disciplines will not be appearing at various locations. In Munich, there won't be a Vert or Street competition, while at Foz do Iguaçu there is no Street contest.

Summer X Games 2013 Schedule

April 18-21: Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil
May 16-19: Barcelona, Spain
June 27-30: Munich, Germany
Aug. 1-4: Los Angeles
