Zack Warden took X Games gold in the GoPro BMX Big Air event yesterday, nailing a bikeflip backflip into a triple tailwhip on his way to a score of 93.66.
After narrowly missing out to Steve McCann at last year's X Games Los Angeles Warden, one of the sport's most innovative riders, has been rewarded for his creativity and willingness to put it all on the line.
He was followed by Chad Kagy in second and Morgan Wade in third, with Australia's Vince Byron taking fourth.
The crowd were given even more to shout about when local hero, Douglas Leite landed the largest air ever recorded out of a BMX quarterpipe in the history of the X Games, finishing 5th overall.
