Debuting way back in 1999, Valve’s Counter-Strike is still one of the most played games in the world, and the latest edition, Global Offensive, certainly shows no shortage of talent. We've scoured the internet (well, YouTube and Twitch) to bring you some of the best professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive games we've ever seen. From fabulous comebacks to great round-saving plays from individual pros, this list should keep you watching for hours. Grab your AWP, holster your Deagle and read on to find out which games made the grade – and don't forget to tell us your own favourites in the comments!

Ninjas in Pyjamas vs VeryGames

When VeryGames were sitting on a 13-2 lead we thought the now-disbanded French team had this game in the bag against long-time rivals Ninjas in Pyjamas. We should have known better than to count out the seasoned NiP out though, and the Swedish team forced their way back into the game with some stunning play! One of our favourite moments is a fantastic four-man fragfest from Richard “Xizt” Landström at 42:00, taking out the rest of the VeryGames roster in quick succession, leaving the game at match point.

Ninjas in Pyjamas vs ASES e-Sports Club

This time, Ninjas in Pyjamas are leading the game dramatically during EMS Winter 2012 after the first half, with the scoresheet standing at 13-2. A fantastic second half by Spain’s ASES e-Sports Club, particularly from Xavi "Aguila" Casals, saw the underdogs claw their way back into the game and play their hearts out. It ended up as an extremely close game, with the Swedes leading 15-13 in the final round making for a tense finish. ASES’s Vicens "Vis" González manages to pop off Fifflaren and friberg, leaving 24-year-old Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund with four ASES players to take down – can he do it in the 15 seconds left?

compLexity vs VeryGames

France’s VeryGames showed off their skills against US team compLexity with some fantastic plays, with Richard "shox" Papillon making the most of some top tactics, but the North American team proved they were a force to be reckoned during 2013's Dreamhack Winter event. Our favourite bit? It’s gotta be round 29 where Shox takes down four of the opposition, leading with a frag grenade kill, an AK47 headshot pop on Braxton "swag" Pierce, a quick spray of Kory “Semphis” Friesen and a last second frag of Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert – but compLexity's plays meant there was still no time for the 22-year-old Frenchman to hit that bomb defusal, even with a kit.

Team X vs Ninjas in Pyjamas

Last year’s Dreamhack Summer tournament saw Swedish giants Team X, formerly known as Absolute Legends, consisting of seasoned pros such as Jonathan "lidde" Lindgren and Christan "Spitfire" Schiölde, taking on CS titans, Ninjas in Pyjama, consisting of an incredible line-up of long-time pros, Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund, Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg, Richard "Xizt" Landström, Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson and Adam "friberg" Friberg – with a line-up of former SK Gaming and Fnatic pros, you know you’re in for a heated match on iconic map, de_dust2. You'll see great individual work – f0rest's work in round 26 springs to mind - and nail-biting moments like NiP’s Xizt desperately trying to defuse a bomb in the midst of smoke at the end of round 27 is superb – plus a double dose of overtime makes for tense watching!

Na'Vi vs Universal Soldiers

You want tension? Here's a triple overtime match filled with plenty of high-stakes plays. Ukraine-based Natus Vincere takes on Poland’s Universal Soldiers during last year’s EMS One Fall 2013 Group B finals, and with just under 60 rounds played, it's what the commentators refer to as "a monstrous game”. We’re not sure how much of staple map de_dust2 we can take – we certainly haven’t seen this much of it in a long time!
