Red Bull Art of Motion 2017
Bart van der Linden flipped, jumped, spun and dropped his way to an impressive victory in the Red Bull Art of Motion 2016 finals.
Against the majestic backdrop of the white-washed clifftop houses of Oia on Santorini, the Dutchman landed on top of the podium after outrunning the contest favourites Dimitris Kyrsanidis and Pavel Petkuns, and grabbing his first ever Red Bull Art of Motion win from American pairing Alfred Scott and Joey Adrian.
Now we look forward to the 2017 event on October 7.
The Online Qualifier will take place from June 6 to July 6, 2017. So you'll have a whole month to prepare your 90-second video showcasing your skills. It’s very important that your face is clearly seen as well as your landings in the video. Also the video title must have your name and contain the words ‘Online Qualifier Red Bull Art of Motion 2017’. The seven best athletes (four men and three women) will reserve their spot in the main competition, which will take place on October 7 in Oia.
The Selection Jam will take place on October 4, 2017 in Santorini. Like last year, the Selection Jam will be open to everyone, so if you didn’t manage to qualify through the Online Qualifier, this will be your last chance! The Red Bull Art of Motion judges will choose 20 athletes from the Selection Jam who will qualify to the Onsite Qualifier, just a step away from the main competition.
The 20 best athletes from the Selection Jam will compete in the Onsite Qualifier on October 5, 2017. The five best athletes from this take their places at the Red Bull Art of Motion 2017 final!
The final will take place on Saturday, October 7, 2017 in Santorini. Seven athletes from the Online Qualifier, five athletes from the Onsite Qualifier and the top six freerunners from Red Bull Art of Motion 2016 will compete in the final.
A perfect trick is not enough to qualify for the final. You must have flow in your runs and you must make good use of your surrounding environment. Red Bull Art of Motion judges will be Anan Anwar (Creativity), Gabriel Nunes (Difficulty), Sergio Cora (Flow), Kie Willis (Execution) and Marcus Gustafsson (Overall Performance). Patrick Morawetz will be the lead judge.
Now that you know the schedule, get prepared and record your 90-second video for the Online Qualifier! Stay updated through RedBull.com or Red Bull Art of Motion’s Facebook page.
