18 of the country's best amateur kart drivers came to Kiev for the final of the Ukraine Red Bull Kart Fight hoping to win a place on the plane to the world final in Italy.
They'd come through a series of regional qualifiers in Lviv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa and Kiev. Although it was the first Kart Fight in the country, it was incredibly popular with the entry list full only 2 days after the event was announced.
It came down to a contest between 18 of the country's best amateur kart drivers for the final glory and victory went to 26 year old Slava Shendrik from Kieb.
The National Final was the pre-event of a Red Bull Champions' Parade including the F1 Show Car Run and Slava was lucky to receive the prize from the hands of Daniel Ricciardo. Daniel congratulated the winner and wished him luck in Red Bull Kart Fight World Final.
For the World Final Slava will face the best from the rest of the World of Red Bull making it a big step for the surgeon who only started karting in 2009 to have some fun with his friends.
He says that what he most enjoys about the sport is, “the Speed” and that he really had a good time in the final. “Both the race and the traffic were really different to what I am used to and very exciting.”
