The race is unique in that it begins before sunset and ends at night. Floodlights are used to provide seamless transition from daylight to darkness.
In 2010 the circuit hosted the title decider where, for the first time in history, four drivers could win the Championship. Sebastian Vettel emerged victorious.
The circuit passes under the Yas Marina Hotel which features LED lights that change colour during the race.
Just outside the circuit is Ferrari World, home to the world's fastest roller coaster which reaches a top speed of 240kph
