Born and bred in Ramona, California, Jake Gagne is a natural on two wheels. With a father who raced motorcycles, it was in the blood for Jake from a very young age. He got a dirt bike at the age of five, and was racing in local MX meets immediately. Soon, Jake was competing in West Coast national events.
Jake didn’t throw his leg over a road racing machine until he tried out for the Red Bull AMA Rookies Cup. He finished fourth and impressed judges and crowds alike. It was a rapid transition from MX to road racing, as he won the 2010 title in only his second season.
Jake has since gone on to win the AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike title, and in 2015 he became MotoAmerica Superstock 1000 champion. But, not content with his success, the young rider also rode an AMA MX National in 2015 and took part in the inaugural Superprestigio of the Americas flat-track event.
Earlier in 2015, Jake also had the opportunity to ride a Yamaha in the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross National at Utah. He qualified and just missed out on a points-scoring finish. Not bad at all for his first time out at that level!
In 2016 Jake finished in 10th place overall in the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship standings on a Yamaha YZF-R1.
It’s quite an array of different skills the former Red Bull MotoGP Rookies champion has acquired and the future is certainly looking good for Jake Gagne.Read more
