Davy Pootjes has spent virtually his whole life shredding motocross trails. At four years old he began racing and spotting his potential, Davy’s father took the young rider to Belgium, put him on a dirt bike, and arranged for a coach. From that moment on, Davy was out to win.
It wasn’t always an easy ride, and it took Davy two years to find his form. But by the age of just six years old, he had won his first Dutch title. “I had a lot more control,” he says. Over a decade later, Davy is as committed as ever to his sport. Almost every weekend he’s travelling to somewhere in Europe to compete, followed everywhere by his parents and mechanic. If the weather is bad in the Netherlands in winter, then he flies to Spain to continue his training. That’s dedication and determination.
Outside of his school studies, life is all about racing. Davy competed successfully in the 125cc class, and moving up, his goal is to first win the European championship and ultimately take the title in the MX2 class.
