These days onboard cameras and spectators video makes sure that fans don’t miss a single bit of the action. Volkswagen instead decided to do something completely new and sent a remote-control drone out onto the stages to capture some truly epic footage.
The guys behind the video, FS Aviation used a tiny camera placed on a octocopter, that flew over the top of the cars during the rally.
Volkswagen were competing in their debut rally with their Polo R WRC with Sebastien Ogier putting in a particularly impressive performance to finish second overall. Jari-Matti Latvala didn’t have such luck and crashed out during the final few stages.
