Marc Coma has lit up the Dakar Rally over the past nine years, the Spanish rider’s rivalry with Frenchman Cyril Despres meaning that only these two men have taken victory in the bike class at the event since 2005.
Coma may be losing the battle, with three wins to Despres’ five (the Spaniard was sidelined with an injury at this year’s Dakar), but it’s still an impressive record, and one that Coma will be desperate to add to when the pair line up for the 2014 running of the Dakar in just three months’ time.
