For those who take part in the Dakar Rally, it's an 18-day rollercoaster of highs and lows, and we're not talking just about the competitors.

The support crew who help those riding and driving their way across South America play a crucial part in making it all happen.

Warren Naude was at this year's Dakar as a race technician to Nasser Al-Attiyah on the Toyota Gazoo Racing SA team. Early (and we mean early!) starts, late finishes and tight deadlines are part and parcel of Warren's daily regime.

Watch the video above for a genuine insight into the gruelling nature of life on the Dakar from Warren's perspecitve, and as chance would have it we shadowed him on a day that turned out to be a decisive one in Al-Attiyah's 2017 race.
