Tune in live to see if Sebastien Loeb can smash the course record at ‘The Race to the Clouds’ in his brand-new Peugeot developed car. The nine-time World Rally Champion will tackle the Rocky Mountains in an attempt to beat the existing Pikes Peak “Unlimited” category record of 9 minutes, 46.164 seconds.
The legendary Colorado course features 156 wrist-sapping bends winding up the 12-mile route towards the 14,000 feet high finish line. Loeb will be behind the wheel of the one ton, 875bhp, four-wheel drive beast created by Peugeot specifically for the challenge.
Not only will Loeb do battle against the high altitude energy sapping course but also against rival racers hoping to claim the title of King of the Peak for themselves. Among the stiff competition is current Pikes Peak record holder Rhys Millen who is bringing his Hyundai RMR PM580-T to the party this year.
The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb dates back to 1916 and the 91st edition of the contest is shaping up to be the most memorable of them all. Can Loeb recapture the glory tasted by Peugeot in the 1980s thanks to stunning performances of Ari Vatanen and Robby Unser? Can Rhys Millen maintain his family’s proud association with the race by claiming another victory?
All these questions will be answered during the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb live broadcast right here on June 30, 15:45 CET.
Unfortunately the production company at Pikes Peak experienced a range of technical difficulties. The stream will now continue on the Pikes Peak Official Site until the end of the event. Come back to Redbull.com for news and a POV clip of Sebastien's run.
