The grizzled blues legend Seasick Steve will be releasing his seventh studio album Sonic Soul Surfer on March 23, 2015. His previous album, Hubcap Blues, welcomed an array of heavy-hitting guests including Jack White and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones. But Sonic Soul Surfer promises a back-to-basics approach – mainly just Steve and regular drummer Dan Magnusson keeping it simple and following their instincts. “There ain’t a whole lot of producing going on,” he reckons. “But I know what I want.”
To get you in the mood for the album, check out our exclusive preview of Seasick Steve’s new single Summertime Boy. Perhaps surprisingly for a man who has chosen to divide his time between Norway and the UK, Steve’s a Californian surfer dude at heart. In Summertime Boy, he goes into full beach bum mode. Anyone else can’t wait for summer?
