If you haven't seen SKIP&DIE live yet it's not for lack of opportunity. Since releasing their 2012 album Riots In The Jungle this pan-global crew, hailing from South Africa and the Netherlands and plying an energetic blend of tropical bass music, have played everywhere. From China and Colombia to Reunion Island and Egypt.
The band have been filming the whole journey, which has taken them from dusty townships to hi-tech Red Bull Studios and world-famous festivals. Frontwoman Cata.Pirata, who also dabbles in visual art, has pieced the footage together into a three-part documentary, Roots & Routes, charting the band's beginnings and their on-the-road adventures.
Says Cata.Pirata: "It answers one of the main questions we're asked during interviews: What are your influences? Where does your music come from? The series focusses on the origins of the band, which is not necessarily a specific geographical place, and also the influences and sources of the original ideas, and the journeys that have influenced the band and its members."
Episode one, which you can watch in the player above, is about the joy of touring and getting collaborate with musicians along the way. Tag along on this fascinating adventure.
