Phaeleh (Matt Preston to his friends) hails from one of the UK's hottest electronic music hotbeds – Bristol. Alongside boundary-smashers Addison Groove, Joker, My Nu Leng and Pinch, he's a resident DJ at the city's Who Cares? club night and his take on the Bristol sound – weighty bass and cinematic atmospherics – pushes dubstep, garage, house, even ambience into adventurous territory.

Phaeleh's captivating 2016 album Illusion Of The Tale saw Preston create his own rich, sci-fi world, incorporating sounds recorded in cemeteries, libraries, rainforests and underground railways. And when he's not holed up in the studio, he's also a fine DJ, as you can hear from this live set recorded by RBMA Radio.

To help you through the second week of 2017, Preston has put together a collection of his go-to favourites. Here's what he has to say about his playlist.

"I think this is a collection of music that I'll always enjoy. It takes me back to a good time creatively, and offers some inspiration to get me through the week. I also included one track off my last release because the process for the album [Illusion Of The Tale] was very similar to my older stuff in the days before Phaeleh. So it seemed appropriate to get it involved."
