Hi, my name is Ryder Lawson. My discipline is skateboard street. I was born on 22 February 1997 in Sydney, Australia. My special talent is doing huge flips. The most important person in my life is my dad.

In 2012 Ryder won SLAM Skateboarding Magazine’s coveted New Gen of the Year award. As far as Australian skateboarding awards for up-and-coming shredders go, the NGOTY is about as good as it gets!

“It was a crazy moment being called up out of nowhere,” he says of the experience. “It was definitely a moment to remember.”

The ace up Ryder’s sleeve, however, is the board under his feet. After impressing Arto Saari, Ryder was asked if he’d be interested in joining Flip Skateboards. Of course, Ryder accepted, and subsequently became part of one of the most influential teams in skateboarding history.

“So many great things have happened to me through skateboarding, I don't know where I'd be without it,” he says. As long as he maintains his trajectory – and everyone knows he will – Ryder’s clearly destined for great things. And with guys this talented leading the charge, the future of Australian skateboarding is in safe hands.
