After her training crash in November, Lindsey Vonn is already back doing what she loves – skiing.
Lindsey has once again taken to social media to update her fans, and this time, the news is even better. She is back on skis and feeling good. She had this to say on Facebook:
First day back on snow since my crash and it was awesome! I'm very thankful for many things this year (family, loved ones, great fans) but at this moment I'm happy to be on the mountain doing what I love – skiing!! Happy thanksgiving everyone!
Four-time overall FIS World Cup winner Vonn was forced to postpone her return to competitive action after limping away from a crash during training at Copper Mountain, Colorado, on November 19.
Having spent the summer season rehabilitating her right knee following reconstructive surgery, she had been expected to take part in the FIS Alpine World Cup event in Beaver Creek, Colorado, on November 29. However, she suffered a mild strain to the same knee and a partial tear of its anterior cruciate ligament in the crash.
After a few days' rest to allow for the injury to be properly assessed, Lindsey took to Facebook to thank her fans and issue an update:
Thank you all so much for your support and well wishes. It has been a very difficult few days and your positive messages have helped tremendously. Rehab is going well and I am working as hard as I can to race in Lake Louise in a few weeks. Thank you again, I'm proud to have the best fans in the world! Love, Lindsey
PS: don't worry guys, this is only a temporary setback. Nothing will keep me from picking myself back up and continuing to fight for my dreams.
Vonn had been making astounding progress in recovering from the original injury, sustained in February 2013 during a World Cup event in Schladming, Austria, where she tore both her ACL and MCL, as well as fracturing her tibia.
Lindsey was clearly already working hard to make the latest comeback dream a reality, as this Saturday November 23 tweet proved:
Beautiful day in @vailmtn Wish I could be out skiing right now :( #stuckinthegym #workinghard #ijustwanttoski
Her many celebrity friends in the world of skiing and beyond have also taken to social media to pass on their best wishes:
