Bio

Marie-France Roy, or ‘Mofo’ as she likes to be called, was born and raised in the snow. Hailing from Les Eboulements, Quebec, she grew up surrounded by kids who skied, played ice hockey and generally had snowball fights all year round.

So it wasn’t long before she caught the snow bug herself. When she was 11 she was handed a pair of skis, however after seeing her older brothers shredding down the local mountain on their snowboards, she handed them back and went to join her siblings.

Aside from being a Winter X Games and Abominable Snowjam veteran, MFR has picked up a number of awards along the way, such as the Transworld Snowboarding’s Woman Rider of the Year, Women’s Reader’s Choice, and the Women’s Video Part of the Year awards. In addition, she has starred in several snowboarding flicks including See What I See, La La Land, Ro Sham Bo, Float, and No Correct Way, each one being graced with her unique skill on the board.

But what does the future hold for Mofo? Well, for now a whole lot more snowboarding. But at some point she’d quite like to put her ecology degree to good use and give something back to the environment.
