Bio
Born in 1983 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Marko Grilc grew up without easy access to any mountains. However that didn’t stop the young Slovenian from pursuing his seemingly innate calling to become a professional snowboarder. Growing up he spent a lot of time on the Austrian slopes working on improving his skill and practising tricks.
Now 29, the experienced athlete has been competing professionally for over a decade and has had an abundance of stellar career results in that time. Highlights include winning the Billabong Air & Style competition in 2009, winning the O’Neil Evolution Slopestyle in 2010 and competing at the Winter X Games. Grilc has also claimed 3rd place at the European X Games and has stood on top of the podium at numerous FIS World Cups.
Marko has also starred in a number of snowboarding films that have pushed previous boundaries such as Red Bull’s film Red Bull Double Air, where he propelled himself over pro snowmobiler, Ross Mercer, demonstrating his magnificent command of his abilities. Other appearance include films such as Thanks in Advance, Draw the Line, The B, Catch the Vapors, and 91 Words for Snow.
But what does Marko do when he’s not catching big air or perfecting his style? Well, he channels his artistic flair into working on new clothing designs or creating new boards for Burton, the company which has sponsored him for the last 10 years.
