Here’s how you beat the crowds at Pipeline

Check out Jamie O’Brien’s after-dark solution for surfing the world’s most crowded wave.

In June of last year, we received some interesting footage from Who Is JOB? filmer, Damien Robertson. He told us his main subject, Jamie O’Brien, was up to something new. What more could the Hawaiian surfer known as JOB have up his sleeve? (Have a look at our latest Sessions edit above for your answer.)

The past 12 months have seen JOB charging big Teahupo’o while on fire and taking a supsquatch – a giant inflatable stand-up paddleboard – out in huge Mexican barrels with his mate Poopies and a few other nuts. So it makes sense that he's now surfing Pipe in the middle of the night.

No light, no problem

We caught up with JOB as he took on the world's most infamous wave armed with some GoPro cameras and Lume Cube lights. The results are, well — mesmerizing.
