The Bahraini flag flew high this weekend at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria as Mohammed Mattar took third place at the Red Bull Kart Fight World Final.
Andrejs Laipnieks is Red Bull Kart Fight World Champion after a thrilling 30 minute Final and second was Finnish 31-year-old Mika Helen.
Matar received his third place trophy from Carlin F3 diver Ilott and admitted that he was a little disappointed. “It was a fantastic final, the guys pushed so hard, then I got a sticking throttle and really battled to control the kart. I am not saying I would have won it, Andrejs was doing a great job but I think I had 2nd.”
“Still I'm on the podium at the Red Bull Kart Fight World Final and that is a pretty big thing. I have to thank everyone involved in the event and in getting us here, it is very special,” concluded Mattar.
Scuderia Toro Rosso driver Max Verstappen, along with fellow Red Bull Athletes Pierre Gasly and Callum Ilott, was thrilled to watch and co-commentate the race and Verstappen summed it up very well. “It has been a brilliant event and as Andrejs won three of the four races today you have to say he is a very worthy Red Bull Kart Fight World Champion.”
