Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) will host the fourth round of 2017 FIA Cross-Country Rally World Cup; titled Qatar Cross Country Rally, taking place on April 17th-22nd. This year marks the strongest entry list ever, which only means that everyone in Qatar can expect to witness a truly thrilling rally.
Adding spice to a truly competitive round, QMMF are organizing a 5.45km Super Special Stage set to take place on Tuesday 18th April at 4PM, within the Motocross premises at Losail International Circuit. Spectators in Qatar are invited to attend this special stage, meet legendary motorsports icons and enjoy an action-packed National Baja.
P.S: The spectators’ area is positioned opposite of a big jump, so make sure to grab your cameras!
33 cars, 14 motorcycles and six quads will compete in the rally, with ten of the car entrants being Priority 1 drivers. Let’s have a look at a selection of these racers.
Topping the impressive field of drivers in the car category is the defending FIA World Cup champion and two-time Dakar winner Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah. #YallaNasser!
So far this year, Mohammed Abu Issa is on a roll acquiring great achievements, with Mini X-Raid Team, as he came in 3rd place in Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge and in 10th place at Dakar Rally 2017. This is the first year for Abu Issa to race in the car category, after he made the switch from the quad category. Fingers crossed for “The Ledge”!
In the motorcycles category comes the champion Sam Sunderland from United Arab Emirates, who is also rocking 2017 with earning glorious titles, such as 1st place at Dakar Rally 2017 and winning Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge!
Poland's ‘Kuba’, who is with Orlen X-Raid Team, is best known as a talented rally-raid rider who has successfully made the switch from two wheels to four. When not busting the dunes on cross-country rallies, he also turns his hand to a bit of drifting.
The talented Frenchman spent the past two decades racing around the tracks of Europe. He has bagged many victories, with the latest ones E1 World Championship in 2013 (winning 12 of 14 rounds) and E2 world champion in 2015 with the KTM Enduro Factory.
After three years of practicing and competing in local events he won the Dakar Challenge in 2014, and went on to participate at the Dakar 2015. Rodolfo will participate in the 2017 World Championship Cross Country Rally in the Quad category.
For Rodolfo, the motivation to achieve something amazing and world-class is to show his daughter that an ordinary person can achieve extra-ordinary things with will and perseverance. And this means the world to him.
