Malja- a Hub for Arts and Creativity

By Noor Nooruddin

Nested under the trees at the entrance of Amwaj Islands, Malja, Bahrain’s first permanent open creative space opened its doors to excited local artists and guests from around the region on Janu-ary 30th. The day kicked off with a pre tour session hosted by Bahraini stand-up comedian Imran Al Aradi. Saudi radio personality, Big Hass, Jeddah Legends rapper Klash, Omani art therapist Gaila-ni, Monstariam from Kuwait, Outlaw and other artists, toured around Malja discovering its facilities and what the space has to offer.

The big bang occurred later on when the doors opened at 4PM, leading up to the opening ceremo-ny where Ali Fingerz and Ameera Ali hosted the creative minds behind Malja on stage for engaging discussions. Artists, curators, and enthusiasts mingled and shared throughout the night, eventually resulting in impromptu jam sessions and break dance battles, illustrating exactly what the space represents as a hub for collaborations and curation. An electrifying way to start Malja Bahrain’s opening week, that’s for sure!
