UAE’s Social Fitness

By Blake Stemm - UAE

Fitness has completely exploded into the Middle East in the last 10 years. In Dubai it is very important to quickly distinguish yourself and your niche market. Tribe Fit is one fitness company that is achieving this very thing. It is a fitness company who is focusing on the personal side of fitness, creating an experience and not just a gym or group fitness class. With gyms or fitness box’s in almost every building in JLT, let alone the rest of Dubai, it is important for gym owners and fitness companies to really put their stamp on the fitness market.

Tribe Fit has done just that with their facility in Dubai Marina. A club that is focussed more on the social aspect of health and wellbeing, instead of lifting weights and group fitness classes. What is offered is more than just fitness; it is mainly the experience related to the social aspects of fitness. On top of this, the club also offers experiences outside of the facility, such as dragon boat racing, beach sunset yoga, tribal camping nights, International women’s day runs and beach volleyball competitions!

Not only a brimming social calendar, Tribe Fit has something slightly different to a lot of other gyms and fitness clubs in the Middle East. It has focussed very heavily on the design of the space, to make it less like a large dull gym and more like an urban colourful space. The club has a very raw feeling, its flooring in parts is polished concrete and in other parts clean crisp wooden flooring. In the yoga studio instead of big fluoro lights, it has coloured calming lights in a soothing circular fitting and a Buddha painting at the back of the stage. On top of all of this, the club also has state of the art equipment as well as some strategically placed colourful canvas artwork on the walls to add life to the space.

The bespoke nature of the club does not just stop there, it continues throughout. The group fitness space, known for its difficulty to design, in this club it has been given life, with graffiti on the walls. All of the graffiti is selected specifically for this space with words of encouragement on the walls, driving its members to achieve their goals. The social aspects of the facility doesn’t stop there, with many other things available to their members such as a pool table, swimming, basketball, a workout terrace overlooking Dubai Marina, a cafe offering healthy shakes and meals and a funky urban chill out lounge for the members to socialize with one another.

Reaching Ramadan in such hard weather conditions, Indoors sports and activities are the keys to lead a healthy and physically fit life!
