Originating from southern Norway, studying in Copenhagen and recently travelling for a year in Australia, Katrine (22) got hooked on kiting on the sandy beaches of Adelaide. She had tried kiting once in Copenhagen before and bought the gear when arriving to Australia.
Clueless about kiting she just asked the other kiters on the beach to keep an eye on here so she didn’t fly away. They did that and so much more, helping her to figure out the basics of kiting. After studying for 6 months she took her kite and travelled for two months!
I´m very spontaneous, always keen on new adventures.
Other than kiting, ofcourse, Katrine is also into yoga and snowboarding.
– I signed up for Red Bull Ragnarok to challenge myself, to expand my kiting network, and to meet all the awesome kiters participating. I got my ticket while I was travelling Australia, I was with a friend who had his alarm on when the tickets got released (in the middle of the night), so I was half asleep when I accepted the challenge. I don´t regret it, yet.
Katrine kites whenever she can, when the wind is good, and when she’s not too busy with uni. She's still a beginner, but a quick learner. This will be her first competition on snow, ever.
– My goals for this years Ragnarok is not to get my lines tangled with any of the other kiters. Haha! No, don´t worry! I will of course to do the best I can, and learn whatever I can from all the great kiters participating. I think Norway is the perfect destination for this competition. It has got all the space one could dream of and great nature. I have never been on Hardangervidda before, I´m very excited too kite it.
At Haugastøl Katrine will be challenging Linn Jorstad and the other girls on snowboard, and she, as many other, are also looking forward to the after party which is rumored to be «great»!
