Red Bull Flying Bach In Singapore

Germany’s most popular breakdance crew The Flying Steps will be bringing their production Red Bull Flying Bach to Singapore for the first time performing 4 Esplanade shows (16th - 18th of January 2014). Red Bull Flying Bach is an internationally acclaimed show that marries the urban art of breakdancing and the high culture of classical music.
The Flying Steps, four-time breakdancing world champions, will leave audiences enraptured as their creative performance visualizes and revives Johann Sebastian Bach’s ‘Well-Tempered Clavier’ (Part I, fuges & preludes 1-12) note by note, step by step with piano, harpsichord and electronic beats.
What‘s the show about?
The 70-minute Esplanade show will trail the journey of six dancers and their teacher while the crew prepares for their big finals as tensions rise, like the ups and downs of the notes. Contemporary dance meets breakdance when a woman (played by Anna Holmström) enters the room, changing the dynamics and developments of the dancers, where desire meets refusal, arrogance meets curiosity and the clash of the two worlds are inevitable.

Who are the Flying Steps?
Following their sold out European Tour in 2011, the crew, made up of Lil Ceng, Mikel, Punisher, Spider, KC-1, Nono and Aldo Style, will be making stops in the Middle East, Asia and head to South East Asia in 2014, crossing borders geographically as well as musically and culturally.
Accompanying them on their journey will be Anna Holmström, a Swedish performer who is trained in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop and Contemporary Dance.
Internationally acclaimed opera and concert conductor, Christoph Hagel helms the award-winning production as the Artistic Director and will be playing the piano for the show as well as the crew dances to the choreography by Vartan Bassil, founder and creative mind of The Flying Steps. Red Bull Flying Bach won the prestigious ECHO Klassik Sonderpreis, Germany’s major classical music awards, in 2010.
