I climbed the height of Mount Everest – on a rope

Fitness expert Ross Edgley has just completed the world’s longest rope climb in under 24 hours by scaling a rope repeatedly until reaching the height of Everest. You may recognise Ross from the #WorldsStrongestMarathon where he ran a marathon pulling a MINI.
The fitness expert, sports scientist and founder of the sports nutrition company The Protein Works says that every blister and rope burn was worth it after he raised thousands for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Ross says: "To quote the great science fiction writer Ray Bradbury: 'Jump off the cliff and build your wings on the way down'.
"For me, this was the logical sequel to The World’s Strongest Marathon. Pulling a 1.4 tonne car for 26.2 miles raised lots of money for charity, but it also left me with this newly acquired work capacity. A few hours in the weights room or pounding the pavement no longer seemed as fun. So I rang the Teenage Cancer Trust. Bought a rope. Found a tree. Then put a date in the diary."
Ross burnt through two pairs of shoes and 10 pairs of gloves during the 24 hours as he repeatedly pulled himself up and down a 10m rope until he’d climbed 8,848m – the height of Mount Everest. Ross started the climb at 9am and finished the next morning at 7.34am. It's little wonder that he consumed 8,000 calories throughout the entire 24 hours!
Hot on the heels of the #WorldsStrongestMarathon and the #WorldsLongestRopeClimb Ross is now plotting a third extreme stunt – one that he says will "make the first two look like a warm up!" Watch this space…
