Newton Abbot had an action packed Bank Holiday when the UK's top BMX riders headed to the renowned Decoy BMX park to compete and raise money for Stephen Murray’s Stay Strong foundation.
For the event's big return to the UK, over 100 riders made the journey from as far as Nottingham to ride and compete in the three part competition. Kicking off the day was the amateur bowl contest where young riders had the one-off chance to be paired with and ride against some of the best BMXers in the country.
The event then shifted focus to a fast paced pump track competition giving riders the opportunity to quite literally rub shoulders with some of their heroes.
Then came the main event: the dirt trails competition. The pros threw down every trick in the book from immensely tweaked tables to flip whips over the final double, leading to a top spot finish for local legend and potential future mayor of Newton Abbot Kye Forte, and a clean sweep of the podium for the Decoy crew.
Not only was it a hit on the jumps, but also a massive success for Stay Strong with over £3000 raised for the charity.
Dirt Trails Competition Results:
1. Kye Forte 2. Leo Forte 3. Callum Hellier
