It wasn't easy – but it wasn't supposed to be. The most challenging adventure race in the world has come to a close for 2013, with ten of the thirty-one participating athletes crossing the finish line in Monaco, having started in Salzburg almost two weeks prior. By air and foot, they've traversed some of the most treacherous terrain in the world, and while not everyone made it to the finish line, all have done something to be proud of.

Watch the video above for some of the highlights of the race, including the dramatic start, action from key turnpoints, and of course, Christian "Chrigel" Maurer's record-breaking finish on the float in Monaco harbor. To go even further in depth with details from the race, head on over to the Red Bull X-Alps website and check out hiking/flying statistics, photo galleries, and more.
