On Sunday, the Red Bull Air Force made a daring wingsuit flight over Manhattan. Dropping from an airplane at 7,500 feet, five members of the team soared at speeds of up to 120 mph, before landing safely on a barge in the Hudson River.
Now we have POV footage of the two-minute flight.
In the above video, the wingsuit flyers -- Jeff Provenzano, Amy Chmelecki, Sean MacCormac, Jon Devore and cameraman Andy Farrington -- travel two miles in two minutes. With incredible views of Manhattan, the video also reveals the precision and skill needed to hit their small landing zone.
For Provenzano, Chmelecki and MacCormac, who grew up in New York City, there was added emotion in the jump. “I grew up dreaming about this,” said Provenzano afterward. “To be up in the air – above the city – is something really special.”
The Red Bull Air Force will perform this weekend at the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach on Long Island, New York, where the team will perform multiple jumps in front of an expected 400,000 spectators.
