With the iconic Guggenheim Museum as a backdrop, Spain’s Basque country hosts a one-of-a-kind 27-meter diving event off of La Salve Bridge, with all the action airing on FOX Sports 1 on Monday, November 3, at 7:00 p.m. ET/4:00 p.m. PT.
As part of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, it was the USA’s Steven LoBue who took his first victory in two years at stop number four in Portugal to make up crucial ground on Gary Hunt in the overall standings. With his second career win, 29-year-old LoBue pressed his claims for this year’s World Series title. Colombian Orlando Duque and third-placed David Colturi of the USA also produced their best performances of the year in Portugal.
The La Salve Bridge, which usually welcomes the sailors returning from sea, will be the take off point for three seconds of aesthetic free-fall. The cliff diving elite will demonstrate multiple twists and flips while diving into the Nervión River at more than 52 mph from mind-blowing heights.
The overall title is on the line and the pressure is on England's Gary Hunt to maintain his lead over American Steve Lobue
"The overall title is on the line and the pressure is on England's Gary Hunt to maintain his lead over American Steve Lobue,” said FOX Sports 1 host Trace Worthington. Hunt could lock in the overall title with a top finish, while Lobue needs another win like he earned in Portugal to keep things close.”
Along with Worthington, the show is hosted by 10-meter platform diving Olympic gold medalist David Boudia. The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series is part of a stunning global sports series on FOX Sports 1 that also includes the Air Race World Championship, Crashed Ice World Championship and X-Fighters World Tour.
