The Ultimate Waterman is a new competitive event that seeks to answer the question: Who is the world's best all-around waterman? Eight accomplished athletes were invited to New Zealand to compete in six different events over eight days, with the Ultimate Waterman crowned when it was all over.
The disciplines were big-wave paddle-in surfing, waka ama (outrigger canoeing), longboarding, shortboarding, stand-up paddling and stand-up paddle endurance.
The invited field was made up of Hawaiian watermen Kai Lenny, Kala Alexander and Connor Baxter, fellow American Danny Ching, Australian Mark Visser, local waterman Daniel Kereopa and legendary Tahitians Manoa Drollet and Georges Cronsteadt.
See how the whole event unfolded — as Cyclone Pam helped deliver unprecedented conditions for New Zealand's East Coast — in a feature broadcast on Red Bull TV right now.
