The sport of freediving is nothing new; divers in ancient Greece used to descend up to 100 feet for sponges, and the Ama divers in Japan would go to similar depths in search of pearls. But it's safe to say the sport has reached new depths in the last few years, as experts like Will Trubridge regularly hit over 300 feet and more.
