Raphael ‘Raph’ Derome was already on waterskiis at 18 months old with his dad, a former national champion water ski jumper. At nine years old, Raph was introduced to wakeboarding by his older brother, excelling quickly and making his name in the sport.
By the time he was 19, Raph had already claimed a Junior Pro Men Tour Stop win, a Junior Pro Wake Games Championship, and a Wake the Line title. In 2010, Raph won the Transworld Rail Rider of the Year award, and went on to claim the Wakeworld Rider of the Year title in 2011, as well as the Monster Energy Wake Park Triple Crown in Dallas. In 2012, he also picked up the Alliance Rider of the Year award.
Raph's major film feature was released in 2012, during arguably his most successful season yet, with wins at Red Bull Art of Wake, Monster Energy Pro Crown triple feature, FISE Costa Rica and Montpellier. He has since gone on to take the O'Neill Wake the Line title in Cologne, with many more wins sure to be for the taking for this young Canadian.
Apart from wakeboarding, Raph spends a lot of time playing the guitar and skateboarding, and has found the perfect balance between all his passions.
