What would you do with 12 hours of chair lift access to Colorado’s Winter Park Resort? Accept the challenge, of course.
Last Sunday, over 100 riders took on this half-day assault on Trestle Bike Park. Red Bull Final Descent is an endurance mountain bike event that is contested between dawn and dusk with a simple premise: the rider who logs the most laps on the mountain is the winner.
Ryan Sutton from Crested Butte proved that he was the most tenacious athlete of the day, completing 35 laps during the 12-hour time limit in the Men’s Pro category. Jacqueline Thomas from Winter Park finished 32 laps to take home the victory in the Female Pro Division. Other category winners were:
Solo Men’s Expert: Adam Hart - 33 Laps
Solo Women’s Expert: Samantha Chaloupka - 29 Laps
Duo Pro: Ninja Kitties - 35 Laps
Duo Expert: Turin Bikes - 34 Laps
Team Division: Fort Lewis College - 35 Laps
