Photo Blast: Hafjell World Cup practice

A classy black and white gallery of Saturday's DH action for your perusal.

Hafjell in Norway, although only on it's second year on the UCI World Cup circuit, has already become one of those tracks that the riders love coming to. Come Sunday afternoon it'll be all business however as points are up for grabs for the penultimate time this season.

Gee Atherton back up to speed

Gee Atherton back up to speed

The last couple of World Cups, although not disastrous, have not gone perhaps how the previously untouchable Gee Atherton would have liked. Fastest in quali here though means that he'll be last man down and once again in charge of his own destiny.

Rachel Atherton - still dominant

Rachel Atherton - still dominant

Rach has hit what might just be the form of her life this season. Domination of the overall and another set of World Champs stripes are testament to how well she's going. Hafjell, like just about every other track this year, seems to suit her - fastest in quali.

Smith and Beer sit second and thirteenth respectively. Stevie captured his debut win here last season and after the disappointment of the World Champs in South Africa, you can bet he'll be out to repeat it. Beer for a top 10 come the final overall standings? Not a bad bet.

Peaty on fire.

Peaty on fire.

This is very much a 'Steve Peat' kind of track - long and fast with a mix of just about everything and a need to carry speed throughout. The big man might just be one to watch...

Come on, Slugger!

Come on, Slugger!

Last time we saw Marc Beaumont he was recovering from a crash out in the Alps and was heading to the Vallnord World Cup with his shoulder held together with gaffa tape. He's still one of the smoothest riders out there though and will be hoping to go well on Sunday.

Pom Pom still smiling

Myriam Nicole is having a good 2013 despite Rachel's domination and still looked cheerful despite having to find at least eight seconds to beat the Brit come finals.
