The longstanding and legendary trails on 9th Street at Duncan Park in Austin, Texas, have not only been a staple in BMX history, but also some serious glue in the world-famous Austin BMX scene. Smack dab in the center of the Lone Star's capital, 9th Street has produced memorable video sections from riders like Taj Mihelich and fostered many of today's up-and-coming stars, most notably recent X Games Gold medalist and Austin native Chase Hawk.
As one of the most well-known and well-covered sets of trails to date, the talent 9th Street has spawned is only matched by the community-driven, scene-building local crew consisting of riders like Santana, Big Rob, Jeremy Hrabal, and much of the Empire BMX family.
The annual Halloween Jam draws a huge crowd, and has consistently provided good times for local and visiting pros, as well as a valuable lesson to young riders about the value of hard work, community efforts and DIY dedication. In the week prior to the Halloween Jam, the locals organized a pre-jam, where tons of riders came together to clean the park, maintain the jumps, BBQ, and spread the good word of bicycle fun, preparing for the two-wheeled terrors of All Saints' Eve. Check out photos from the festivities here…
