Five pro NA and EU teams are scheduled to participate; a sixth will be determined by a qualifier.
Five of the top Dota 2 teams - The Alliance, Na’vi, Fnatic, Evil Geniuses, Team Liquid – will be on hand at Major League Gaming’s upcoming fall championship fighting for a prize pool worth $50,000, including $25,000 for first place.
The three day MLG championship, scheduled for Nov. 22 through 24 at the Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio, will also feature a sixth Dota 2 team decided by a MLG Fall Invitational tournament taking place October 18 at Full Sail University.
Teams are able to register now for the Dota 2 Open Online Qualifier taking place from September 28 through October 16. The top eight teams along with the teams finishing second through eighth in the NA Fall Dota 2 League will advance to compete in the invite-only qualifier from October 21 – November 6 for this spot at the Championship in Columbus. Leading up to the competition, fans can watch North American Dota 2 League matches on Mondays and Wednesdays at 4 pm PST and Sunday’s at 1 pm PST at majorleaguegaming.
Once the sixth team qualifies, they’ll head to Columbus and play in a round robin style tournament with the five pro North American and European teams followed by a Single Elimination Championship Bracket.
Dota 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 are the only games confirmed so far for MLG Fall, but details about other games will be released soon, according to an MLG press release. Earlier this summer, MLG officials tweeted that StarCraft wouldn’t be a part of MLG’s plans this November.
