Real estate blog Movoto calculates the cost of LoL's Nexus at $24K.
How much would it cost to live in a League of Legends Nexus?
Real estate blog Movoto did some sleuthing recently and appraised the value of the stone portal, which players of try to destroy to win a match of LoL, at a cool $24,106. Here’s how they calculated it: they figured out the rough square footage of a Nexus by examining the scale of the structure as compared to the size of a champion. They then compared it to property in Seattle, Washington – a city with a similar climate to that of Runeterra.
Bad Bachelor Pad
It’s tough to picture it being the most comfortable or convenient living situation in the world. Oh, you want to bring an attractive minion of the opposite gender back to the Nexus? Good luck with that. Then again, this would settle the question that’s plagued Summoners since 2009: where exactly do minions come from?
462 is a Crowd
The length of an average 5v5 match on Summoner’s Rift is around 33 minutes. So with seven minions spawning every 30 seconds, that’s roughly 462 roommates. Yikes. If you thought fighting over which way the toilet paper roll should unravel was an issue, imagine splitting DVR space with that many people. It’s surprising that waves of minions don’t sporadically go missing as a result of inter-roommate genocide.
Motovo wasn’t able to really delve into cost for materials or energy, which would drive up cost significantly, but you certainly have to tip your cap to the site's Randy Nelson for coming up with a ballpark figure. At the very least, he just saved you close to 25 grand, which calls for a Gragas-sized beer if any of you ever meet him.
