Red Bull eSports chose the best websites to help improve your League of Legends game while waiting.
No one wants to end up like Dyrus, who recently missed out on his Challenger Series due to getting caught up in a rousing game of Hearthstone during Champion Select.
To help him out, (and let’s be honest, we’ve all been caught texting or playing Puzzles & Dragons and been forced to sit out the five minute penalty) we’ve compiled a list of the top 5 League of Legends-centric sites that’ll give you something to do while you wait the timer out, yet still managing to keep the game at the forefront of your mind.
Want to know what builds your professional counterparts are using? Look no further. Even if it’s still in beta, ProBuilds is a reliable search database broken down by player, region, and role. Once you find who you’re looking for, you’ll be able to access that particular player’s match history, and each of their builds and masteries and for whom. A solid jumping off point for anyone who thinks their particular play-style mirrors a main-stage frequenter.
This site has nearly everything. LolKing has coverage on, but not limited to: streams, charts, Champion guides, and a listing of every item there is. Each of these listed tabs goes into quite a bit of detail. For instance, “Charts” has filters breaking down everything from Most Popular Champions to Top Lane Matchups so you can sift through them by map, time frame, or type of queue.
Stat hungry? Get ready for a buffet. Elophant runs the numbers on every single Champion and item in just about every way imaginable. As a bonus, it even comes complete with graphs! Who doesn’t love a good graph?
Elophant also offers a separate client that suggests what your team should be picking during Champion select in real-time, based off of their win-rate, your opponents, and a bevy of other statistics. It also snuffs out the weaknesses of both sides, allowing to properly guard against or target the soft spot of the Summoners you’ve been matched with.
If you’re having trouble figuring out just exactly how to counter a specific champion when laning, this one’s for you. ChampionSelect breaks down how you should build against who, what abilities to utilize and when, as well as breakdowns and suggestions from pros themselves.
ChampionSelect also has a pretty sleek interface that allows for the community to vote on what works best where. So if you’re worried about going off of the expert advice of just one person, you have nothing to fear here. Object to a certain majority ruling? Chime in on the “How To” tab.
“K.I.S.S. - Keep it simple, stupid.” While this advice might’ve hurt Dwight Schrute’s feelings, sometimes less is more. OP.GG offers a fairly close approximation of your “match-making rating,” or MMR, based off of your last 10 ranked matches. While this may not necessarily help you heading into a match while you wait during Champion Select, it’s good to check in every once in a while to gauge your placement and how well you’ve been fairing.
