1. Team Liquid Adds Super Smash Bros.
Team Liquid has added a new eSport and two new progamers to their roster. The eSports organization announced a new Super Smash Bros. team and signed Ken “Ken” Hoang and Daniel “KoreanDJ” Jung.
In a statement posted on their website, Team Liquid owner Victor “Nazgul” Goossens said of Super Smash Bros. “The game is 13 years old and has stood the test of time over and over again. The game is deep and deserving of being an esport.” He also called Ken and KoreanDJ “incredible players and personalities.”
Super Smash Bros. Melee will appear as one of the games at the Evo 2014 fighting games tournament and at MLG Anaheim in June.
2. Free to Play Collector's Pack for Dota 2
To commemorate the release of Free to Play this week, Valve is releasing a corresponding Collector’s Pack that includes special in-game items created in partnership with the three progamers featured in the film.
Free to Play is Valve's full-length documentary follows the story of three professional Dota 2 players: Danil “Dendi” Ishutin, Benedict “HyHy” Lim, and Clinton “Fear” Loomis. The set of items include: “Forge of the Iron Will” set for Sven, created with Fear, “Crown of Hell” set for Doom, created with Hyhy, the “Murder of Crows” set for Pudge, created in partnership with Dendi. There will also be some unique item sets. A portion of each purchase of these items will go toward the players featured in the documentary.
3. New Look Heimerdinger Goes Live
After some time in the lab, Heimerdinger's makeover has gone live. League of Legends’ mad scientist champion got a big visual upgrade from Riot. Instead of having a massive brain, he’ll is totally covered with wavy hair that makes him look more Yordle-like.
4. Capcom Reveals Final New Character in Ultra Street Fighter IV
Capcom has just unmasked the mysterious fifth and final new playable character in Ultra Street Fighter IV -- Decapre.
She made her first brief appearance in a Street Fighter game as a non-playable character in Street Fighter Alpha 3, where she was seen as one of M. Bison’s Dolls. Although a partial mask hides a giant burn mark located on this Russian beauty’s face, Decapre will scar opponents with her quick and elusive scramble moves as well as her psycho power infused attacks, which allow her to share her pain with her opponents. Players can get their claws on Decapre and the rest of the lineup in Ultra Street Fighter IV when the game releases in June 2014.
