As one of only two of Malaysia’s full-time riders in history, Muhammad Zulfahmi “Fahmi” Khairuddin is a figure of national pride for his country. The Grand Prix rider has always dreamt of earning a place on the podium amongst the elite of MotoGP, and with each year that passes, Fahmi is continually gaining ground on his ultimate goal.
Fahmi’s dedication and determination – combined with extraordinary talent – has seen the young Malaysian steadily rise through the ranks. He first garnered international acclaim as a notable 125cc rider from 2009, making his debut on home turf at the Sepang International Circuit. In 2010 Khairuddin became full time and during the season took points at Montmelo, Sachsenring, Brno and Estoril.
By 2012, Khairuddin was really making his mark and moving closer to his MotoGP dream in the Moto3 class. He not only finished the season in 7th place overall, but his achievements were chronicled again in Sepang, when he became the first ever Malaysian rider to take a Grand Prix podium – fittingly, on the same circuit where he made his debut and in front of a home crowd.
In 2013, 'Fahmi' rode with the renowned Red Bull KTM Ajo factory team, and in 2014 remains in Moto3 but switches to a Honda.
