Losail International Circuit measures in at 5.4km in length, features a straight at just over 1km and is surrounded by barren desert land. The night-time race is lit by more than 3,600 bulbs, and the heat often hits over 40ºC making conditions particularly tough for riders.

The track is surrounded by fake grass to help keep sand blowing in from the desert off the asphalt.

Lorenzo's clean sweep

Jorge Lorenzo is the only rider to have won in three different categories at the circuit. The Spaniard has triumphed in the 125cc, 250cc and MotoGP classes there, and each time from pole positon.
