Round 1 of the 2013 campaign in Qatar was a belter! Here are some of the best images from the race.
It didn't take long for rookie Marc Márquez to settle into a rhythm on his MotoGP debut, and he was soon onto the back wheel of his Repsol Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa...
Stefan Bradl was having a good race and led the pack chasing the top four, but the LCR Honda rider crashed out on lap 10 while pushing to reel in Valentino Rossi.
It wasn't long before Márquez managed to get past Pedrosa, and for a while the rookie was running in second...
But he was soon demoted to third, as a rousing ride to come back from down in seventh from Valentino Rossi added extra excitement to the show.
As the scrapping for positions went on behind him, defending World Champion Jorge Lorenzo cruised to victory by almost 6 seconds with a faultless ride.
Valentino Rossi described his podium on his return to Yamaha as "a dream", and 'The Doctor' certainly seemed pleased with the result.
And a podium on debut for Márquez completed what was a stunning season opener from Qatar. Thankfully, we only have to wait two weeks until the next round in Austin on April 21!
