For this instalment of Cribs we take a look into the lives of the Hemingway brothers, Dan and Ben.
Not quite a Beverley Hills mansion with a driveway littered with blinged up motors. It’s much better than that – a ‘proper pad’ in a tranquil corner of the Yorkshire countryside where tractors, sheds full of bikes, tea, and brotherly love matter most.
Regarded as the fastest siblings on the Hard Enduro scene, the Beta mounted brothers are super laid back when it comes to living life in the fast lane. Eldest of the two, Dan, is a family man. With a wife and two young sons he runs a plant hire business Monday to Friday. Dan works hard during the week so he can play harder at the weekends.
Ben, just two years younger, is a grafter both on and off the track. A welder and fabricator by trade in the family business, Ben previously competed seriously in the World Trials Championship – something that now serves him well in Hard Enduro.
Brutal by name and brutal by nature, Hard Enduro ultimately favours former top-flight trials riders with their enviable levels of bike control and balance. And with a lifetime involvement in trails, the transition into Hard Enduro has proved almost effortless for the Hemingways. With podium results at The Tough One and the Red Bull Hare Scramble in 2012, plus a top five finish in this year’s Hell’s Gate, Ben is right at the forefront of the sport, with Dan just a couple of positions further back.
For 2013 the duo have teamed up with the newly formed Beta Extreme Team and with an endless Hard Enduro playground in their back garden, Ben and Dan have their sights set on hitting top stride in readiness for their upcoming visit to the Iron Giant in Austria.
