Herlings cruises to Latvia win

There's still no stopping the MX2 World Champion, who's now won all 11 Grands Prix in 2013...

Jeffrey Herlings became the the joint most successful Dutch rider in history with victory at Kegums in Latvia, where the 27th GP win of his career brought him level with legendary rider Davey Strijbos.

At just 18 years of age the Red Bull KTM Factory rider is well on his way to claiming a second successive MX2 World Championship title, with his win over the weekend maintaining a 100% victory rate in this year's campaign.

Displaying his skills in the sand at Kegums, Herlings was streets ahead of the rest of the competition, winning the first race by a clear 40 seconds and the second by 50s.

In the first moto Spaniard Jose Butron led for a short while but on the third lap Herlings passed with ease and then disappeared into the distance, with Butron and Glenn Coldenhoff completing the top three. Herlings' team-mate Jordi Tixier placed fourth, and Jake Nicholls came across the line fifth.

In the second race Herlings was in complete control from the very start, leading every lap and winning by a commanding margin of victory. Tixier sealed second with Butron third.

A maximum 50 points ensured Herlings made it 11 wins from 11 rounds this year, with Butron and Tixier also getting onto the podium.

Herlings leads the Championship standings by 139 points heading into Round 12 in Finland.
