Fresh off the Bonnaroo stage, the Black Hippy rappers deliver the goods with 'Collard Greens.'
Black Hippy, the LA rap squad consisting of Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock and Ab-Soul, had a huge 2012. Kendrick's 'good kid, m.A.A.d city,' Ab-Soul's 'Control System,' and Schoolboy Q's 'Habits & Contradictions' were three of the best rap albums of the year. Hands down.
One of the finest Black Hippy songs of 2012 was the Schoolboy/Kendrick collab 'Blessed,' from 'Habits & Contradictions.' The two rappers displayed superb chemistry, and this magic continues on 'Collard Greens,' the latest single from Schoolboy's upcoming Top Dawg Entertainment/Interscope album, 'Oxymoron.' Above a booming THC-production, Q ruminates on excess and vehicular sex, Kendrick calls himself God (Lookout Kanye), and then Q returns to burn down the house.
In addition to Kendrick, Schoolboy Q's 'Oxymoron' is supposed to feature rappers Ab-Soul, Danny Brown, Action Bronson, 50 Cent, and A$AP Rocky, plus productions by Boi-1da, the Alchemist and Pharrell. The release date is unknown.
