Watch: Deer Tick Video for 'The Rock'

The Providence country-rockers prepare to release its new album, 'Negativity.'

This new black-and-white Deer Tick clip for 'The Rock' is more lyric video than proper music video. The camera gets incredibly close to frontman John McCauley, who then makes a few faces, puts on sunglasses, and drinks from a cup, as the lyrics flash across the screen. That's it. Not much to it.

This twangy new song is from Deer Tick's upcoming album, 'Negativity,' due out in September via Partisan Records. It begins slow, and sad, with grand declarations of love, and then it picks up when the full band slams in. Horns and strings gleefully arrive, but this tale of lost love doesn't end well.

In other Deer Tick news, the band recently contributed a song to Songs For Slim to help raise money for sick Replacements guitarist Slim Dunlap. The song, 'From The Git Go,' was released as a split 7-inch with John Doe in a quantity of 100. It was auctioned off earlier this month.
